Pianist Lynne Haeseler is a versatile artist who has performed internationally and nationally as a soloist, accompanist and dance pianist. Although trained as a classical concert pianist, Lynne has explored other collaborative and unconventional settings for piano performances.
Influenced by dance theater, in 1991, she expanded the form of the piano recital to include movement, stage lighting and spoken word in an integrative performance. She coined the word “metaformance,” to describe this theatrical setting for solo piano performance. The integrated art performance illumines the inner meaning of the music through metaphors.
“As a collaborative artist, my passion is to create contexts where inspiration and community connection can occur. I combine spoken word, lighting, dance or other interesting elements with music to create a compelling experience. I have produced wine and music tastings, performances coordinated with sunset, and a salon at an art gallery.”
A New York native, Dr. Haeseler received her degrees from the State University of New York at Purchase and the University of Arizona. She studied with Jean Casadesus, Bruce Hungerford, Joel Rosen and Paula Fan. Her recordings include Classics for Ballet, the Classics for Pointe www.briorecordings.com, High seas and Lowlands/ Orpheus Male Chorus and Chase the Moon/solo piano.Since coming to Phoenix, Dr. Haeseler has worked as an accompanist with Ballet Arizona, ASU Dance Department and Orpheus Male Chorus, and served as associate faculty at Glendale Community College and Arizona State University West.
