Lynne Haeseler
Pianist Lynne Haeseler is a versatile artist who has performed internationally and nationally as a solist, accompanist and dance pianist with major dance companies, festivals, theater groups and numerous instrumental and choral ensembles. Although trained as a classical concert pianist, the formality of the traditional piano performance inspired Dr. Haeseler to create her own unconventional performances of classical music.
In 1991 she combined movement, stage lighting and spoken word with classical music to create "metaformance,” a term she coined to describe a new theatrical setting for solo piano performance. Sanctorum, a contemplative chanting choir founded by Dr. Haeseler in 2005, combines classical and contemporary music with the spiritual practice of chanting to join people together in contemplation, celebration and prayer. In 2006, she founded Concerts about at the West Valley Arts Museum, a music series with a casual and informative approach to classical music, and Stories, Music and a Piano Player, a musical story time for toddlers at Borders Books and Music.
Since coming to Phoenix, Dr. Haeseler has worked as an accompanist with Ballet Arizona, ASU Dance Department and Orpheus Male Chorus, and served as associate faculty at Glendale Community College and Arizona State University West. In addition to her various artistic projects, she serves as accompanist with Ballet Arizona and teaches privately.
A New York native, Dr. Haeseler received her degrees from the State University of New York at Purchase and the University of Arizona. She studied with Jean Casadesus, Bruce Hungerford, Joel Rosen and Paula Fan. Her recordings include Classics for Ballet, the Classics for Pointe www.briorecordings.com, High seas and Lowlands/ Orpheus Male Chorus and Chase the Moon/solo piano.
