Pianist Lynne Haeseler is a versatile artist who has performed internationally and nationally as a soloist, accompanist and dance pianist. Although trained as a classical concert pianist, Lynne has explored other collaborative and unconventional settings for piano performances. Influenced by dance theater, she expanded the form of the piano recital to include movement, stage lighting and spoken word in an integrative performance. She coined the word “metaformance,” to describe this theatrical setting for solo piano performance, illuminating the inner meaning of the music through metaphors.
“As a collaborative artist, my passion is to create contexts where inspiration and community connection can occur. I have produced wine and music tastings, performances coordinated with sunset, and a salon at an art gallery. I combine spoken word, lighting, dance or other interesting elements with music to create a compelling experience.”
A New York native, Dr. Haeseler received her degrees from the State University of New York at Purchase and the University of Arizona. She studied with Jean Casadesus, Bruce Hungerford and Joel Rosen. Her recordings include Classics for Ballet, The Classics for Pointe, From Waltz to Charleston (www.briorecordings.com), High seas and Lowlands/ Orpheus Male Chorus and Chase the Moon/solo piano.
