Pianist Lynne Haeseler is a versatile artist who has performed internationally and nationally as a soloist, accompanist and dance pianist. Although trained as a classical concert pianist, Lynne has explored other collaborative and unconventional settings for piano performances. Influenced by dance theater, she expanded the notion of the piano recital into an integrated art performance. She coined the word “metaformance,” to describe this theatrical setting for solo piano performance, using “metaphors,” such as dance, lighting and spoken word, to amplify the deeper meaning of the music.
“As a collaborative artist, I have produced performances coordinated with sunset, a salon series at an art gallery, wine and music tastings and even a 7-course dinner paired with music. In my performances, I integrate elements together, such as spoken word, lighting, movement, visuals, with music to create a compelling experience.”
She has served on staff as dance pianist for Ballet Arizona Company and School, Arizona State University Dance Department and the Vail International Dance Festival. Her recordings include Italian Masters (2015), From Charleston to Waltz (2008), Classics for Pointe (2007) and Classics for Ballet Class (1999) (www.briorecordings.com).
Dr. Haeseler received her degrees from SUNY Purchase and University of Arizona.
