About Lynne
Pianist Dr. Lynne Haeseler is a versatile artist who has performed internationally and nationally as a soloist, accompanist and dance pianist. Although trained as a classical concert pianist, Lynne has explored other collaborative and unconventional settings for piano performances. Influenced by dance theater, she expanded the form of piano recital into integrative theatrical performance using dance, lighting, spoken word and audience participation. She coined the word “metaformance,” to describe this theatrical setting for solo piano performance.
“The 'metaformance' led me to integrative performances, where music and elements are woven together into a holistic event. I have produced performances coordinated with sunset, a salon series at an art gallery, wine and music tastings and even a 7-course dinner paired with music. My intention is to amplify a deeper meaning of music and give an experience of interconnection.”
Presently, Lynne is a dance pianist for University of North Carolina School of Dance and piano instructor for Greensboro Performing Arts. She has been staff pianist for Ballet Arizona, Arizona State University Dance Department, Vail International Dance Festival and Regional Dance America. Her recordings for dance include Italian Masters, From Charleston to Waltz, Classics for Pointe) and Classics for Ballet Class (www.briorecordings.com).
Dr. Haeseler received her degrees from SUNY Purchase and University of Arizona.
